The new HP OMEN 15 is the first OMEN laptop with an option for an AMD CPU.

What you need to know

  • HP announced the new OMEN 15 gaming laptop.
  • The OMEN 15 features up to NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 Super Max-Q graphics.
  • It's the first OMEN laptop with an option for an AMD CPU, but it also available with an Intel processor.
  • HP also announced two OMEN mice and OMEN Dyad Earbuds.

HP announced a new OMEN 15 gaming laptop that features powerful internals and options for either an Intel or AMD CPU. The laptop features a 15.6-inch display with options that range up to 300Hz on an FHD display. The Intel and AMD variants of the OMEN 15 start at $1,000 and should be available from June 2, 2020. In addition to the new OMEN 15, HP announced the OMEN Vector and Vector Essential mice, as well as the OMEN Dyad Earbuds.

The OMEN 15 is available with up to NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 Super Max-Q graphics, though the AMD version appears to max out at theRTX 2060. The graphics can be paired with either up to a 10th Gen Intel Core i7-10705H processor or up to an AMD Ryzen 7 4800H processor. You can get the OMEN 15 with up to 32GB of DDR4 RAM and up to 1TB of PCIe SSD storage. You can also opt for dual PCIe SSD storage instead that supports RAID 0.

HP highlights the thermal innovations that went into the OMEN 15. It features an IR thermopile sensor which optimize thermal efficiency. It also features OMEN Tempest Cooling Technology which includes large vent openings and up to a 12V fan.

If you like to customize your hardware, you can open the OMEN 15 using its Phillips-head screws and single access panel for memory and storage to perform your own upgrades and customization.

The OMEN Vector Mouse and OMEN Vector Essential Mouse feature sensors co-developers with PixArt and are designed to be lightweight and ergonomic. They have textured rubber grips and work with OMEN Command Center. The OMEN Vector Mouse has an OMEN Radar 3 sensor and supports up to 16,000 DPI. The Vector Essential Mouse has an OMEN Radar 1 sensor and supports up to 7,200 DPI. The Vector and Vector Essential mice will be available for $50 and $30 respectively and should be available starting in June 2020.

The OMEN Dyad Earbuds work with PC, Xbox, PlayStation 4, and the Nintendo Switch. They connect using the 3.5mm headphone jack, so they should work with many popular devices. The OMEN Dyad Earbuds are available now.
