It's been six years since Rainbow Six Siege was released, and while we got some news on the next game in the series, Rainbow Six Extraction, today at Ubisoft Forward, the older game is still getting updates.
Developers announced Saturday that crossplay is finally coming to the game. Starting on June 30, crossplay and cross-progression will be available between PC, Stadia, and Amazon Luna. Console players will have to wait until early 2022, but by then, crossplay will be available on Xbox and PlayStation, and cross-progression will be available across all platforms.
According to Guillaume Gad, associate producer at Ubisoft Montreal, the team needed more time on the console front to make sure it had a smooth launch.
"We know crossplay is a feature a lot of you have been anticipationg, and we are thrilled to see the enthusiasm the announcement has inspired," he added.
Ubisoft previously announced that crossplay between PC and cloud gaming was in the testing phase on Twitter through the official Rainbow Six Siege Twitter account.

Meanwhile, Ubisoft also released a story trailer for Thunderbird, who will be showing up in the new season. She is a helicopter pilot who will be joining the game as a new defender. The reworked Favela map will also be making an appearance in the upcoming season, which is launching on June 14.
