E3 2021 has officially kicked off today with Ubisoft Forward, Ubisoft's E3 presentation. Leading the announcements was the Rainbow Six Extraction, a new spin on Rainbow Six that introduces a new, deadly alien threat and some creepy-looking monsters that you and your team will have to exterminate on sight. Check out some of the new enemies in these new screenshots below.
Rainbow Six Extraction is a new spin-off focused on cooperative, squad-based first-person shooter action. It takes influence from Outbreak, one of the most popular limited-time Rainbow Six Siege events, pitting its cast against a mysterious biohazard pandemic threatening humankind.
Rainbow Six Extraction shares its tactical fundamentals with Rainbow Six Siege, developed by a new team under the same Montreal office. That includes shared defining signatures, including gadgets, gunplay, and destruction, but translated into a three-player cooperative setting with AI enemies. The new game also brings back many existing Rainbow Six Siege Operators.
While Rainbow Six Extraction may seem like a departure from the series, Rainbow Six Seige will continue to receive support from Ubisoft, including a new crossplay update. Starting on June 30, crossplay and cross-progression will be available between PC, Stadia, and Amazon Luna. Console players will receive cross progression in early 2022. Crossplay, however, seems to be limited to Xbox and PlayStation users.
Rainbow Six Extraction releases on September 16 for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC. Preorders are available now.
