The Samsung 970 Evo 500GB M.2 NVMe solid state drive is down to $59 at Amazon. This is a brand new low price for the 500GB drive. It was selling for as much as $100 back in August and has gone down incrementally since then, but this drop is a new low. Even previous sales didn't drop like this, so you're saving a lot. Since this sale comes straight from Samsung, you can find the drive around this price at several retailers including B&H and Newegg.
The 1TB version of the 970 Evo has also hit a new low. It's down to $129.99 where it normally goes for around $170 and has sold as high as $200. Again, this deal is available at other retailers.
Windows Central has a breakdown of the Samsung 970 Evo you can read about here. When we first wrote about this drive, M.2 NVMe was a sort of luxury tech. The speeds were insane, but most people either couldn't make these SSDs work or couldn't really afford to. These days, if you're not working from one you're really missing out. The prices are just too good to ignore for the amazing speeds you get.
If you are a photo or video editor, and especially if you work with 4K, you will benefit from these speeds. It has read/write speeds of 3500 and 2500 MB/s thanks to the latest V-NAND tech and Samsung's Phoenix controller. One way you will really notice the difference in a drive like this is in installing. If you want to load a bunch of games or heavy programs onto this drive, it will take you half the time compared to any other drive.
If you don't have a spot for an M.2 form solid state drive, grab Samsung's 870 QVO SATA drive, which has 1TB of storage for just $90.
