- Huawei announced two new notebooks to expand its current MateBook family of Windows laptops.
- The new MateBook X is an ultra-portable workhorse with latest 10th Gen Intel processors, a gorgeous 3:2 3K display, and a killer design.
- Both the MateBook X and MateBook 14 will be available later in September.
Huawei announced two new Windows-powered laptop refreshes, the MateBook X and MateBook 14. The former focuses on taking mobile productivity to a whole new level with some notable improvements to an already-great premium notebook. The new MateBook X measures in at just 13.6mm at its thickest part and weighs just 1kg.
The slim form factor makes full use of lightweight magnesium-aluminum unibody that aids durability. It's also touted as the first notebook to feature the Infinite FullView Display, rocking a borderless design that offers a massive 90% screen-to-body ratio. This is ideal for media consumption and work, especially given the 3:2 aspect ratio 3K display (3000x2000) hits 100% sRGB color gamut.
If all that wasn't enough already, the new panel is multitouch-enabled. But if you're not a fan of marking your display, the new touchpad with Huawei Free Touch is ready to go. Everything is powered by a 10th Gen Intel Core processor (hello, Wi-Fi 6) with up to 16GB of RAM. A 42Wh battery should keep you going for around nine hours. The MateBook X will be available in four finishes: Silver Frost, Forest Green, Interstellar Blue and Sakura Pink.

Huawei didn't hold much back with the new MateBook 14 either. This laptop can be kitted out with new 7nm AMD Ryzen 4000 series processors, a 14-inch 2K display, and 16GB of RAM. The new MateBook 14 sports a FullView display, cutting down bezels to just 4.9mm, offering a 90% screen-to-body ratio. It too has an aspect ratio of 3:2, coming in at 2160x1440 with 100% RGB color gamut.
It's not quite as thin or light as the MateBook X, with the thickest part of the laptop measuring at 16mm and the entire notebook weighing 1.49kg. The new Ryzen processors are incredibly efficient and powerful, giving Intel a run for its money and the MateBook 14 makes full use of the CPU here with a 56Wh battery that can offer up to 10 hours of use before needing a wall power outlet.
Both laptops are expected to come out sometime later in September. Pricing is to be confirmed.
