SYMPTOMS
Oracleasm create disk failure on Oracle Linux 7 with following error.
#oracleasm createdisk DATA1 /dev/sde1
Writing disk header: done
Instantiating disk: failed <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
Clearing disk header: done
Writing disk header: done
Instantiating disk: failed <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
Clearing disk header: done
With Verbose option (-v)
# oracleasm createdisk -v DATA1 /dev/sde1
Disk "DATA1" does not exist or is not instantiated
Writing disk header: done
Instantiating disk: oracleasm-instantiate-disk: Unable to open manager: No such file or directory <<<<<<<<<<<<
failed
Clearing disk header: done
Disk "DATA1" does not exist or is not instantiated
Writing disk header: done

CAUSE
Selinux is enabled
SOLUTION
1. Disable Selinux
#setenforce 0
#vi /etc/sysconfig/selinux <<Make it persistent on reboot.
SELINUX=Disabled
:wq
#vi /etc/sysconfig/selinux <<Make it persistent on reboot.
SELINUX=Disabled
:wq
2. Reboot the server and run 'oracleasm createdisk' again
