Switching things up on the fly.
Weapon attachments have always been a huge part of the Battlefield series, and with Battlefield 2042, this trend is continuing. Like previous games, players will be able to unlock attachments for their weapons that change (or even outright improve) the weapon's performance in combat. However, unlike previous games, players will be able to swap between various sights, grips, barrels, and more on the fly thanks to the introduction of the "plus system."
Ahead of the upcoming Battlefield 2042 beta, we've learned a lot about how the plus system works thanks to some official communication from EA and DICE. Here's a quick guide on how you can use the plus system in-game.
How to use Battlefield 2042's plus system
While the plus system looks pretty advanced on the surface, using it is actually pretty easy. Here's how to do it:
- PC: Hold down the "T" key, use left click to select attachments, then release the "T" key to equip
- Xbox: Hold down LB, use the directional buttons to select attachments, then release LB to equip
- PlayStation: Hold down L1, use the directional buttons to select attachments, then release L1 to equip
Note that while this system is quick and intuitive, it will still no doubt leave you exposed if you try to use it in the middle of a fight. Therefore, it's recommended to switch to the attachments you want to use before you expect to run into enemy players or vehicles.
Notably, Battlefield 2042 preorders are available now, and getting your copy of the game early will give you two days of early access (Oct. 6-7) to the beta. The Battlefield 2042 beta download is slated to go live on Oct. 5 at 7 a.m. UTC/3 a.m. ET.
