Japanese support for the 2022 wave of Xbox exclusives.
What you need to know
- Starfield and Redfall are both slated to arrive in 2022.
- During Tokyo Game Show, Microsoft confirmed that both games feature full Japanese localization, including voice acting.
- Starfield features over 150,000 lines of dialogue, which is close to three times the amount of dialogue in Skyrim.
Two of the biggest upcoming first-party Xbox games, Bethesda Game Studios' science-fiction role-playing title Starfield and Arkane Austin's immersive sim co-op game Redfall, are both set to arrive in 2022. As part of the Xbox presentation at Tokyo Game Show, Harvey Smith from Arkane Austin and Todd Howard of Bethesda Game Studios showed up to confirm that both Redfall and Starfield feature full Japanese localization and voice acting.
This is no small undertaking, especially for Starfield, which Howard says features over 150,000 lines of dialogue. For context, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim used around 60,000 lines, meaning Starfield is close to three times the voice lines of Skyrim.
Redfall is currently slated to launch at some point in Summer 2022, while Starfield is slated to be available on Nov. 11, 2022. Both games are coming exclusively to Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and PC, as well as Xbox Cloud Gaming.
There's a lot that's still mysterious about both titles but Bethesda Game Studios is continuing to show off concept art and small lore snippets for Starfield.
