Samsung has had very similar named products for a long time now, but the 870 QVO on sale today is much different than the previous generation 870 EVO. The Q versus the E speaks to the newer technology in the QVO, the QLC NAND controller. This tech has been essential for lowering the cost of SSDs in general, and has allowed the 870 QVO to sell for even less than its predecessor. That's even more true now since the 870 EVO is getting harder and harder to find. If you're looking for an M.2 SSD with NVMe tech that has a QLC NAND controller, try the Intel 660p 1TB drive, which is pretty inexpensive right now, too.
The 870 QVO has read/write speeds of 560 and 530 MB/s respectively. This is more than 10% faster than the previous generation 860 QVO. It also comes with a three-year warranty. The drive uses a SATA 6 GB/s interface, but it is compatible with previous generation slower SATA interfaces. You just won't get as much out of it.
