Looks that kill.
One of the Halo series' greatest strengths is its player customization features, and based on what 343 Industries has shown off so far, this will continue to be the case in Halo Infinite. One of the primary ways that players will be able to personalize their Spartan is through the armor coating system, which can be used to change how your armor looks in multiplayer gameplay.
Despite the fact that Halo Infinite is still several months away from its expected release in Holiday 2021, several of the armor coatings that players will be able to use in the game have been shown off by 343 Industries already during Halo Infinite beta tests. Additionally, a handful of armor coatings can be earned and unlocked by players ahead of the game's launch by participating in promotions, as well as through other means. Here's a complete overview of every Halo Infinite armor coating we know of so far, as well as a breakdown on how you can obtain each one.
Halo Infinite: What are coatings?
Halo Infinite's armor coatings are a special shader-like makeover that you can apply to pieces of armor to change both its color and its material/texture appearance. For instance, one coating may give armor a shiny black metallic appearance, while another might make pieces of armor look crimson with a matte texture. Based on how 343 Industries has described the coating system before, some coatings will even apply dirt and mud or battle damage to your gear. Also, since the developer has stated that Halo Infinite's customization options will be similar to Halo: Reach's, it's possible that you'll be able to apply coatings to individual armor pieces so that you can mix and match when the game launches.
Notably, there are also coatings for other types of objects as well; Halo Infinite's weapon coatings are a good example of this, as they will allow you to completely change the appearance of your guns. Coatings for vehicles are coming as well, although the developers have only shown off one of them so far.
Right now, some armor coatings can be obtained by redeeming codes that you'll get when you participate in promotions. If you have a code to redeem, you can do so on the Halo Waypoint redemption page. There will also surely be plenty of armor coatings (and other types of coatings) that you can earn by playing the game and working your way through each new Halo Infinite battle pass that will be added to the game alongside each of the game's seasons.
Halo Infinite: All armor coatings
Here's a list of all known Halo Infinite armor coatings, as well as information on how you can get them. Note that the requirements to unlock these coatings may change over time as 343 Industries makes adjustments to Halo Infinite before it launches later this year. Also keep in mind that some coatings that were previously available through promotions may not be available now, although a way to obtain them could return at a later date.
