How do 49 inches of curved gaming goodness sound?
What you need to know
- Samsung has announced its latest gaming monitor, the Odyssey Neo G9.
- This curved monitor is a colossal 49-inches with a 32:9 aspect ratio.
- The Odyssey Neo G9 uses the same Mini LED technology as some of Samsung's latest TVs
Do you find yourself looking at your current gaming monitor and thinking "this is just too small"? Good news! Samsung is here to solve all your problems with the colossal Odyssey Neo G9. What makes it so special, I hear you cry? 49-inches of curved, high resolution, gaming goodness.
And the word Quantum, that's mentioned a lot in the press release. Just see for yourself:
The Odyssey Neo G9 joins the Odyssey lineup, taking gaming to the next level with Quantum Matrix technology, supported by Quantum Mini LED display and Quantum HDR 2000 for an immersive gaming experience.
The Odyssey Neo G9 utilizes the same Mini LED technology built into Samsung's latest Neo QLED lineup. This next-generation display technology is enabled by a new light source, Quantum Mini LED. At 1/40 the height of a conventional LED, the Quantum Mini LED has incredibly thin microlayers filled with many more LEDs.
All very techy and impressive-sounding, but on a simpler level the Odyssey Neo G9 delivers super smooth, high-quality images while gaming with incredible color reproduction and a peak brightness of 2,000 nits.
If that wasn't enough the Odyssey Neo G9 packs what is described as Dual Quad High-Definition, a resolution of 5120×1440 backed by a 240Hz refresh rate and 1ms response time all draped around that 1000R curve. Throw in support for both FreeSync and NVIDIA G-Sync, and the Odyssey Neo G9 completes the checklist for an impressive gaming monitor.
All this does come at a price, though, and without beating around the bush, it's a lot. $2,500 a lot. But this is no average gaming monitor, this truly is designed for those who want the biggest, baddest display around.
Pre-orders will begin on July 29 with global availability slated for August 9.
