One thing that bugs me about Xbox Game Pass cloud gaming on phones is how small the screens are. These games weren't necessarily designed for smaller displays, with font sizes and UI elements that are often too small to read well. Throw touch controls on top of them and the situation gets even worse.

One solution I've found to rectify this is to switch to an Android tablet instead, and this great 8-inch offering from Samsung is at its lowest price ever for Amazon Prime Day.

A better way to play xCloud

If you want a small device for Xbox Game Pass cloud streaming, this is arguably the best, and it's cheaper than ever right now.

The Galaxy Tab A is 8-inches and it's rocking a $99 price point for Amazon Prime Day. Complete with WiFi 5 capabilities and a larger display than the vast majority of phones, this provides an elevated Xbox Game Pass experience based on the screen real estate alone.

I tend to use a tablet stand case cover to get the proper angle, and you can pair up an Xbox controller as seen in the pic below. With Xbox Game Pass cloud getting a boost in latency speed with server upgrades this year, this might be one of the best deals you can grab ahead of that, if you want something separate from your phone for on-the-go gaming.

The main downside of this tablet is probably its speed. Although while cloud streaming it's not really an issue, navigating between different apps rapidly can be sliggish. It's also a 720p display at max, meaning it won't be able to take advantage of future xCloud server upgrades. But with a display this small, it's not really a big issue for quick on the go gaming, especially if you're playing simpler games. The best experience will always be up on the big screen, so it's best to think of this as a companion device.

There are a few controller clamps such as the GameSir X2 Bluetooth variant or the IPEGA controller which can even add some Nintendo Switch-like controls to this, which is pretty awesome. You probably won't be using this as a productivity tablet, but for Xbox Game Pass, Kindle comics and books, and watching videos, it's a really great option — especially at $99.
