A powerful Bluetooth speaker.
When I first built my computer a few years ago, I didn't think much about my sound system. The parts inside the machine mattered most to me, and so I picked up a cheap pair of Logitech speakers and made do with what I had. But when most of the world shifted away from offices to remote working, my play space became my office space, and it became apparent that it was time to reimagine my space — and throw in some RGB lights for good measure.
Whether you're working, gaming or just watching movies, you'll want the best quality sound for your hard-earned buck. Preferably something that doesn't take up space with all the bells and whistles of a modern device. Well, you're in luck, because the Edifier G2000 Gaming Speakers checks off all these boxes, delivering amazing sound quality that works with pretty much any device on hand.

The Edifier G2000 Gaming Speakers typically retail for $110 to $120, which is admittedly a bit on the steeper when it comes to gaming speakers, though they've gone on sale for as low as $80. You'll find many alternatives that hover between $40 and $80 dollars but expect inferior sound quality. You'll also be missing out on some of the features that set the Edifier apart, like the Bluetooth compatibility, USB and aux inputs, and that sweet, sweet RGB lighting.

The most striking thing about the Edifier G2000 Gaming Speakers is just how compact they are. Each speaker box features a 2.75-inch full-range speaker that supports 16 watts of RMS (root mean square) power and can hit a max of 32 watts at peak performance to deliver high-quality sound. In short, this means that whatever is coming out of your speakers will be loud and clear when you crank the volume up all the way.

The speakers make use of a built-in professional sound chip which is made with an EQ (equalization) data algorithm to achieve game, movie, and music EQ modes. It all comes together to delivers powerful bass, clear trebles, and sufficient volume to fill a small room, or in my case, my one-bedroom NYC apartment.
Aesthetical speaking, the hexagon speakers look good and the plastic housing feels solid and is matte black, save for the glossy ring around the speaker. There's no rattle or sharp edges to speak of, and they're relatively small. They fit comfortably onto crowded work desks, and the RGB light can be changed to 12 different setups to give you that authentic "gamer" lighting that's all the rage now. Both speakers are connected by a cable that is non-detachable, and the left speaker is where you'll find the volume control, settings, as well as additional USB, aux, and power cable ports.
Little speakers with big sound
So the speaker is aesthetically pleasing, but what about the sound? As I mentioned before, the speaker can be incredibly loud, without any noticeable quality drop. You don't experience that "tinny" sound when you get too much high-frequency response, and they sound evenly mixed to my ear.
This quality is maintained in every mode I tried. The Edifier G2000 offers a standard aux port, as well as a bass port, DC port, a USB port, as well as a Bluetooth option. Even nicer, the Edifier comes with a USB cord, though it's fairly short. I was impressed by how everything sounded, from the explosions of a video game, to, well, the explosions of a Hollywood movie. With a press of a button, you can cycle between movie mode, game mode, and music mode, so switching to whatever was applicable was a snap. Unlike my previous speakers, audio was never muddy and I never had the urge to fiddle with the audio settings mid-movie because I couldn't quite hear the dialogue.

My complaints with the speakers are pretty minor. For example, I was pretty excited to give my desk an RGB facelift, but its light is surprisingly dim. For comparison, my Roccat Kova AIMO mouse seemed to shine brighter. Not a big deal by any means, but it's worth mentioning. I also wish that the volume control was a wheel instead of a toggle switch if only to offer more control when I'm trying to find that sweet spot between loud and too loud.
My complaints with the speakers are pretty minor.
I also wish they included a USB cord that was a little longer, but it's a typical USB A to USB B cable, so you probably have another lying around if you find it too short like I did.
Finally, the price might turn some potential buyers off, but the Edifier speakers impress in both build quality and sound quality and are an investment worth making if you're able to do so.

The Edified G2000 is slightly more expensive than the typical gaming speakers, so if you're looking for a cheaper option, you might want to look at the Creative Pebble Plus speakers that usually retail for $40, though it doesn't pack the same bass as the Edifier. If the aesthetic is key to your gaming setup, the Razer Nommo Chroma features much brighter and more varied RGB lighting. If you're so inclined to go the premium route, the Logitech G560 speakers are very good, but they will run you around $200.

You should buy this if ...
- An attractive and compact speaker for movie watching and game playing.
- If you'd like a pair of speakers for multiple devices.
- If you like to play movies and games really, really loud without any quality loss.

- If you want bright RGB lights.
Overall, the Edifier G2000 Speakers impressed me a lot. I'm no audiophile, but the quality was noticeably great and I finally felt like my office space had a worthy set of speakers. Whether you're using it to play your Xbox Series X or Xbox Game Pass on PC, watching Netflix, or keeping up with your Zoom meeting, the Edifier G2000 Speakers are worth the price of admission.
