Who could predict that a walking vase would break the internet?
If there's one thing the developers at FromSoftware are good at, it's making bizarrely weird enemies for players to battle (and probably die to several times). From the iconic treasure chest-shaped Mimics of Dark Souls to the brain-like, single-eyed Winter Lanterns of Bloodborne, creating ridiculous creatures that are silly, horrific, or both is FromSoftware's thing.
The new trailer for the studio's upcoming action RPG Elden Ring showed that this trend is going to continue in the new game, as many of the foes seen in it are just as strange as FromSoftware's other weird enemies. That being said, there's one Elden Ring enemy that's more bizarre than any other: a walking pot with stubby legs and gigantic, lanky arms.
Naturally, Elden Ring fans are losing their minds over it.

Overnight, this goofy pot enemy has won over the hearts and minds of what seems like the entire Elden Ring community, with many fans expressing their hopes that these walking containers will be friendly with the player and will be safe and happy. The community has even given it the affectionate title of "Pot Goblin," which is downright hilarious. A crazy amount of fanart has been drawn of the Pot Goblin as well, and all of it is amazing. I'll share some of my favorites below:

I think the fact that the Pot Goblin will probably murder players in an extremely grotesque and violent way makes the obsession fans have over it even funnier. Nothing in FromSoftware's games tends to be friendly aside from the occasional NPC or two, but maybe this time around the studio will let us be friends with the silly little pot boys. Probably not, though.
Are you excited to encounter the Pot Goblins in Elden Ring when it arrives on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One consoles, and Windows 10 (and Windows 11) PCs come January 22, 2022? Let me know. It may end up being one of the best Xbox One role-playing games ever, so we can't wait to play it. Notably, it's available for preorder for $60 right now. Elden Ring...oh, Elden Ring!
Elden Ring is FromSoftware's next fantasy epic, featuring a focus on open-ended design in a universe created by both FromSoftware president Hidetaka Miyazaki and A Song of Ice and Fire author George R. R. Martin.
