Best answer: Definitive Age of Empires 4 system requirements are yet to be announced, but developers have stated that the game will run on a wide range of PC hardware, including integrated laptop graphics.
Can your PC run Age of Empires 4?
Age of Empires 4 is gaining traction as we head toward the expected Fall 2021 release date, and many of you might be wondering whether or not it's time to upgrade or buy a new PC to coincide with the game's release.
Though there are now product pages at the Microsoft Store and on Steam, there has yet to be an official roundup of minimum and recommended PC system requirements. However, following an Age of Empires 4 developer interview, we can say that the game is built to run on a wide range of performance hardware.
When asked about system requirements and how powerful a system is required to run Age of Empires 4, World's Edge Senior Executive Producer Michael Mann explained that early on in the development process, Relic Entertainment was presented with a list of hardware that the Age of Empires community and fanbase use. Mann continues:
The majority of them do play on low-end machines, so we wanted to make sure that we support them. So yes, integrated cards are [supported].
That's great news for anyone who isn't looking to upgrade their PC anytime soon. Keep in mind that integrated graphics also vary quite a bit in terms of power, and there is a limit to how low you can go. Don't expect a stellar experience from an aging laptop running an Intel Core i3's integrated graphics chip.
As always, the best graphics card options out there will guarantee you can get the most out of the upcoming RTS game. The last thing you want is a game that's chugging along while you attempt to control units and micromanage your economy.
We will keep this post updated with any more information about definitive system requirements. Until then, feast your eyes on the best gaming desktop PCs and best gaming laptops.
