The G15 is ready to deliver Dell gaming laptop goodness.

What you need to know

  • The Dell G15 arrives on April 13 globally.
  • The Dell G15 Ryzen Edition arrives on April 30 in China and May 4 globally.
  • Both models will have configurations with prices starting at $799.

Two different Dell G15s are coming. One is equipped with AMD Ryzen 5000 series processors and the other features 10th-gen Intel processors. There are minor differences between the two outside of their CPUs, including that the standard G15 will have more color and GPU options, but the general makeups of both will be similar.

The G15 (sans Ryzen) will have a slight edge for gaming purposes since it's slated to eventually receive a 300 Hz display panel option, though specifics on when that panel will arrive are scarce. For those who can see the difference in refresh rates past 144 Hz, it might be worth holding out for.

Pricing for select configurations of both G15 models will start at $799. The G15 will arrive globally on April 13. The G15 Ryzen Edition will launch in China on April 30 and globally on May 4.

There are still some unknowns about the G15 line, such as the starting weight of the Ryzen Edition and whether that edition will receive a 300 Hz display panel at some point in the future to match the Intel variant's 300 Hz display, which lacks a release date. Unknowns aside, there are enough concrete details to establish the G15 as a good potential way to snag an RTX 3060 for portable gaming.

That's really the long and short of it: if you're looking to get your hands on a hard-to-find GPU like the RTX 3060 and don't mind it in the body of a stylish gaming laptop, the G15 is an avenue to meet that goal. Will it be one of the best gaming laptops? Will its lower-end configurations be capable of rivalling the value of gaming laptops such as the HP Omen 15? We'll find out soon enough.
