The console release will be a timed exclusive on PlayStation before coming to Xbox in the Summer.
What you need to know
- The critically acclaimed Disco Elysium is finally coming to console as announced at The Game Awards.
- PlayStation gets it first in March followed by a Summer release on Xbox alongside Nintendo Switch.
- New quests, full voice acting and unseen areas are part of the Final Cut release which will be offered to existing PC players for free.
At 2019's The Game Awards, smash hit RPG, Disco Elysium, walked away with four gongs and came back at the 2020 edition with some pretty big news on the future of the game. Disco Elysium: The Final Cut will be an upgraded version of the base game, and for the first time will be coming to consoles in 2021.
Initially it will be a PlayStation timed exclusive, launching on Sony's console in March. Xbox players won't have to wait too much longer, however, with a Summer 2021 date currently pencilled in. And since the PS5 performance is apparently the full 4K60 experience, we'd expect the same on the Xbox Series X.
The Final Cut will also be delivered as a free update to folks on PC who already own the game. So what's actually new? Quite a bit as it happens, especially for a free update.
- New Political Vision Quests: Face the reality of your worldview as your political compass leads you down new paths. Discover more citizens, a whole extra area, and monumental sights as you leave an even bigger mark on the world by chasing your dreams.
- Full Voice Acting: All of the city's beautiful people are brought to life with full voiceover. Play characters against each other, try to help them, or fall hopelessly in love as each word is spoken to you with the appropriate accent and emotion.
In addition, fans will be able to get their hands on a nifty looking collector's edition, a range of new merchandise and a limited edition vinyl soundtrack from the iam8bit store.
