With Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PlayStation 5 out now, it presents an ideal opportunity to purchase a new 4K TV this Black Friday. The arrival of HDMI 2.1 enables new advanced gaming features, including 4K resolution at 120Hz, backed by a new era of displays readied for the new consoles. All of these TVs bring out the best of Xbox One and PlayStation 4 for those yet to upgrade, but with future-proofing for the years ahead. With Black Friday savings now live, we've rounded up the 4K TV deals you should actually consider.

Even with several recommended 4K TVs ready for Xbox Series X this holiday, no product delivers a complete experience quite like the LG CX. It's among the few products compatible with all HDMI 2.1 gaming features used by Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5, like 4K resolution at 120Hz, and variable refresh rate (VRR) support to eliminate screen tearing. When coupled with the benefits of an OLED panel, flaunting ultra-rich colors and deep blacks thanks to its per-pixel accuracy, this model simply delivers the best picture in 2020.

Best 4K TV for Xbox

LG CX OLED (55-inch)

The LG CX is the absolute best 4K TV for Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5, with support for 4K 120Hz gaming, robust HDR implementation, and new HDMI 2.1 features like VRR and ALLM. Factor in a striking OLED panel with perfect blacks, vibrant colors, and low input lag for the best 4K TV for gaming in 2020. It's at an all-time low via a Best Buy account right now, taking just a few seconds to sign up.

$1350 at Best Buy (Save $350)

The main issue with the LG CX will be the price for most, with that bleeding-edge OLED display technology and features delivering everything you need for Xbox Series X. But given the Black Friday savings, you can secure one of the best 4K TVs for less, including the lowest prices we've seen on its 55-inch variant, securing a $500 discount on the launch RRP at some locations. The best deal we've found on the LG CX 55 in the U.S. comes from Best Buy when signed into a free member account.

The LG CX launched earlier this year, but we already see huge savings. The 55-inch variant launched at $1800, but you can now find it around $1,400 or less following regular cuts throughout the year. The 55-inch model is also cheaper than the 48-inch, which makes this upgrade incredibly lucrative. While we also see significant cuts in 65-inch and 77-inch sizes, the 55 presents incredible value for your first OLED TV, ideal for 4K gaming on Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5, or other consoles.

TCL S434 50-inch | $230 at Best Buy (Save $120)

Great for Series S

If securing the lowest possible price makes your Black Friday, savings on this 50-inch TCL model makes for truly budget-friendly viewing. Discounted by one third, the TCL S434 is one of the cheapest 4K TVs on the market right now, with 4K HDR up to 60Hz, with ALLM onboard. It has compromises as you'd expect at this price, namely with mediocre brightness and colors. But it has an impressive response time and low input lag ideal for gaming, only missing those advanced features. And at this price, you can't complain.

Samsung TU8000 43-inch | $328 at Best Buy, Amazon (Save $22)

The TU8000 is a safe bet from Samsung's 2020 lineup, especially suited to those eyeing the low-cost options, without image quality that disappoints. It's a great 4K TV suited to movies and video games, with strong contrast and colors, with HDR, presenting virtual scenes at their best. 60Hz refresh rates, low input lag, and ALLM all keep gaming smooth, although narrow viewing angles may impact its capabilities as a living room centerpiece. But if you're looking at a balanced 4K TV covering all the essentials, even small savings make the TU8000 an attractive buy.

LG NANO85 49-inch | $500 at Best Buy (Save $150)

Editor's Choice

We've often recommended the LG NANO 85 for Xbox Series X and PS5 as one of the best budget TVs with a next-gen-ready experience. It hits 4K resolution up to 120Hz, with extensive HDR compatibility and support for HDMI 2.1 gaming features like VRR and ALLM. Those savings mean worse colors, namely with a weak contrast ratio and local dimming that hurts HDR, but there's high value for money here with those next-gen features. The 49-inch variant has dropped to just $500 this Black Friday, with savings on larger models, too.

TCL S421 65-inch | $428 at Best Buy (Save $70)

Opting for a 65-inch 4K TV doesn't have to break the bank, and that's especially true with the older TCL 4 Series. You can find the S421 far below $500 this Black Friday, which grants a 4K HDR panel at 60Hz, sans premium frills. It delivers a strong foundation for high-quality movies and gaming, thanks to a smooth image with low response times and input lag. If you can handle the hit to the presentation, namely with weak brightness and colors, you're getting a big-screen image for less.

LG NANO85 55-inch | $700 at Best Buy (Save $150)

The 55-inch LG NANO85 has seen the same cut as its smaller sibling, unlocking various next-generation perks reserved for the best 4K TVs. The series undercuts competitors with cutting-edge HDMI 2.1 gaming features that don't hurt the wallet, including support for 4K resolution at 120Hz, with VRR and ALLM. While colors take a hit with poor contrast and local dimming compared to alternatives in its bracket, this is an investment that won't disappoint gamers.

Sony X900H 65-inch | $970 at Best Buy (Save $430)

Editor's Choice

Sony's X900H has been another next-generation favorite through the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 launch, providing the foundations of an HDMI 2.1 gaming experience. This LED panel has strong visuals, especially with its color accuracy and vibrancy, while avoiding the biggest OLED shortcoming — burn-in. The firm even denoted this as "Ready for PS5," with support for 4K up to 120Hz. VRR and ALLM, while promised for a future firmware update, currently remain absent. But the savings here are substantial, including a further $30 saving if logged into a free Best Buy account.

Vizio OLED 55-inch | $900 at Best Buy (Save $400)

OLED panels consistently deliver the best picture quality, and Vizio's latest range poses those perks for less. Its newest 4K TVs provide all the fundamental benefits of the technology, with perfect, rich blacks, strong contrast, and vibrant colors. It's one of the cheapest modern OLEDs out there, with HDMI 2.1 support for 4K at 120Hz with VRR and ALLM. But it has issues affecting VRR right now at 4K 120Hz, which the company promises to address with a future update. It's one of the best looking 4K TVs in 2020 and Black Friday savings push it below $1000.

Vizio P Series Quantum 65-inch | $1000 at Dell (Save $200)

The Vizio P Series Quantum family represents some of its best in 4K TVs, sharing many features as its OLED family, but with a more affordable LED display. It has impressive contrast and colors, rivaling some of the best at a lower price. 4K at 120Hz and ALLM are also supported via HDMI 2.1 support, and while VRR support comes baked in, it has the same issues as other Vizio flagships, set to be addressed with a future update.

LG BX 55-inch | $1,200 at Best Buy (Save $300)

For a slightly more affordable alternative to the flagship LG CX, there's also the BX series. The main differentiator is the price, with the entry-level 55-inch $200 cheaper than the equivalent CX right now. It has near-identical specifications, including 4K HDR visuals up to 120Hz, with VRR and ALLM support. You also get all the OLED benefits, just with a slight degradation in picture quality and lower brightness.

LG CX 65-inch | $1,850 at Best Buy (Save $650)

With the LG CX generally regarded as the best 4K TV in 2020, it's also worth considering the enormous 65-inch and 77-inch models discounted this Black Friday. It features the same striking OLED panel, meaning deep blacks and rich colors, with all the HDMI 2.1 gaming features, including 4K at 120Hz. Any 65-inch deal below $2,000, or $3,500 on the 77-inch model, makes for a Black Friday saving worth your time. The perfect pairing for Xbox Series X or PS5.

Samsung Q80T 55-inch | $1,050 at Amazon (Save $250)

Editor's Choice

The high-end Samsung QLED lineup is your best OLED alternative, and discounts on its Q80T series are great for Xbox Series X and PS5. These panels trump most LCDs with their rich colors and contrast, coupled with HDMI 2.1 support for the full 4K, 120Hz experience with VRR and ALLM. While since superseded by the Q90T, with more dimming zones and improved HDR, you're getting further savings on this older design for minor tradeoffs. But you'll likely want the 55-inch or larger, with the 49- and 50-inch models limited to 60Hz panels.

Samsung Q90T 65-inch | $1,900 at Best Buy (Save $600)

A standout 4K TV among the 2020 offerings, the Q90T delivers Samsung's latest in its QLED technology. It brings various improvements to an already striking display, with 4K up to 120Hz, with VRR and ALLM support. Those looking for this latest contender on the market may want to consider its 65-inch variant, which drops $600 through Black Friday.

$1,900 at Best Buy

Sony X900H 75-inch | $1,570 at Best Buy (Save $630)

The 75-inch X900H also comes in with an attractive value proposition, swapping its panel for a more affordable alternative. While it's still a great picture, you're looking at a slight hit next to flagships but getting a staggering, immersive living room centerpiece. The X900H series has all the same features across the line, including HDMI 2.1 with 4K 120Hz, although with VRR and ALLM set for a future firmware update. You can also save an extra $30 when signed into a free Best Buy account.

What to look for in 4K TV for gaming this Black Friday

With the latest video game consoles here, Black Friday 2020 presents an unmatched opportunity to invest in a 4K TV for the future. It comes when both Microsoft and Sony are pushing all-new video technologies available on premium and mid-tier displays, ideal for gaming.

Every TV on this list pushes 4K resolution, providing the best clarity across games on the Xbox Series X, PlayStation 5, Xbox One X, and PlayStation 4 Pro. Other devices like the Xbox Series S and Xbox One S support 4K video playback but are limited to standard HD gaming. High dynamic range (HDR) is also present across these 4K TVs, allowing for increased contrast and improved colors across compatible games and video.

But HDMI 2.1 is the characteristic to watch, especially for those with an Xbox Series X or PlayStation 5. It unlocks all-new features previously impossible with older 4K TVs, including support for 4K at 120Hz refresh rates, doubled over the previous 4K 60Hz maximum output. That leaves games feeling more fluid than ever before, pushing more images to the screen each second. Other new features include a variable refresh rate (VRR) and auto low latency mode (ALLM), which help keep games smoother and more responsive than ever.

But no matter which you choose, Black Friday presents some impressive savings on many of the best 4K TVs for Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S. Make sure to check the 4K TV you choose matches the features you expect, and consider how these factor into your budget.
