AMD's first PC GPUs built on its RDNA 2 architecture, the Radeon RX 6800 XT and RX 6800, are available starting today. These are the first GPUs to launch from the Radeon RX 6000 family, with the Radeon RX 6900 XT launching on December 8. The RX 6800 XT and RX 6800 have impressive benchmarks and over double the performance of the previous generation of GPUs from AMD.
When AMD announced the new GPUs, the company showed off some incredible numbers. The RX 6800 XT beat the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 in several games when on maxed-out settings. The RX 6800 went head-to-head against the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti and won in several games as well.
The RX 6000-series GPUS fully supports DirectX 12 Ultimate. Additionally, AMD improved its FidelityFX collection of features, which improves ray tracing, though, at the moment, AMD FidelityFX only works with 35 games.
The RDNA 2 architecture that these GPUs are built on is also used in the Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PlayStation 5.
It's been a busy quarter for AMD. Just last month, AMD unveiled the Ryzen 5000-series CPUs. Now, with the RX 6000-series GPUs, the company has some of the best graphics cards and best CPUs available.
