Voting is how we make our voices heard, and it shapes the future of our homes.
What you need to know
- Minecraft is one of the most popular games in the world, used as an educational tool, creative outlet, and social platform all-in-one.
- Minecraft has become the perfect platform for another cause, with creative company Sid Lee and non-partisan, nonprofit organization Rock the Vote teaming up on the Build the Vote initiative.
- Build the Vote wants to educated young voters on the voting process, and encourage active participation in elections through voting.
- This year is particularly important for voting, and Rock the Vote wants to maintain the momentum they've been seeing.
Minecraft has been used for some awesome things, from simple matters like recreating a graduation ceremony that couldn't happen to building a virtual library to access censored articles, Minecraft has become a lot more than just a video game. The latest initiative to take advantage of Minecraft's creative foundations, large playerbase, and powerful brand is Build the Vote, a joint partnership between creative company Sid Lee and non-partisan, nonprofit organization Rock the Vote.
(https://ift.tt/2Ti35gV) will also have voting houses added to their maps and servers during the initiative. Why is this important? Because during the Build the Vote initiative, participants will actually vote on 10 of the most pressing issues in modern politics today.
The 10 things participants will be able to vote on include:
- Gun laws
- Criminal justice reform
- Healthcare access
- Global warming
- Education system
- Immigration
- Job stability
- Student loans
- Combating corruption
- Racial equality
Build the Vote begins Monday, October 26, 2020 and will end on Friday, October 30, 2020. After the initiative is over, Rock the Vote will share the results of all of the votes on their social media platforms, so we can see what our young and future voters are thinking about today. Interested players can get involved using this server address: mc.buildthevote.com
. Like I mentioned above, voting houses will also be added to popular community servers as well. This is a fantastic way for children and young adults to learn about the voting process, and more importantly why their vote matters.
