Minecraft Live is in full force, and is bound to be full of a ton of Minecraft-related announcements and news. The latest from Mojang Studios today is the reveal of the third expansion DLC for Minecraft Dungeons, and it looks like it's going to add a lot of reasons for new and existing players both to jump into the game. The third island to be added to Minecraft Dungeons will be part of the Howling Peaks DLC, and you can expect to see a huge amount of fresh content injected into the game with this expansion.
With Howling Peaks, a new island with at least three different levels will appear on the map, and it's up to the players to ascend the gustful mountain tops and defeat the powerful Tempest Golem, the new boss that heads the expansion. With Howling Peaks, players can expect new mob variants, lots of gear and items, and even new Missions to mix up gameplay and add new challenges to the game. It's clear Howling Peaks has everything it needs to be a solid expansion for Minecraft Dungeons, but for many players it's the free update launching alongside Howling Peaks that will truly be impressive.
Every expansion so far for Minecraft Dungeons, which includes Jungle Awakens and Creeping Winter, has launched alongside a free update that brings all players to the same level with the base game. The only things the DLC adds are new areas and the content that goes with them. Howling Peaks may have the most impressive free update yet, as it'll introduce a new Apocalypse Plus mode.
Players looking for more challenge and a reason to play beyond the game's current modest power cap should be excited for this, as Apocalypse Plus adds 20 new difficulty levels beyond Apocalypse VII, the current maximum in Minecraft Dungeons. With this increase in difficulty comes an increase in the game's power cap, meaning players can reach new heights and discover even stronger gear than was possible before. This is the endgame content we've been waiting for, and gives Minecraft Dungeons considerably more replayability, which is appropriate for a game that takes after the Diablo series so closely.
Overall, Howling Peaks looks like it's going to be a winner, and we can't wait to get our hands on it. We don't have a firm release date yet, but we'll be sure to let you guys know as soon as we find out ourselves.
