AMD's Big Navi should be big news for GPUs, and you can watch it get unveiled today.
What you need to know
- AMD will unveil its next-generation Big Navi graphics cards today.
- The live event starts at 12 PM EDT and will be streamed by AMD.
- AMD teased these upcoming graphics cards at its Ryzen 5000 series launch.
AMD is having an impressive year so far, and the company has yet another major announcement coming up. AMD's Big Navi launch event starts at 12 PM EDT today, October 28, 2020, and will showcase the company's next-gen Big Navi graphics cards.
The Big Navi lineup of GPUs is based on AMD's RDNA 2 and should deliver high-end performance. RDNA 2 technology also powers the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5, meaning it supports new gaming features like ray tracing and variable rate shading.
Watching the event will be simple enough. AMD will show the event live on both its YouTube channel and it event page.
AMD teased the Big Navi lineup during its launch of its Ryzen 5000 series processors. Toward the end of that event, AMD CEO Lisa Su showed 4K gameplay footage of Borderlands 3 running on the AMD Ryzen 9 5900X and an unnamed Radeon RX 6000 graphics card. We expect AMD to announce several RX 6000 GPUs at today's event.
Based on the tease that we saw earlier this month, AMD's Big Navi should compare to NVIDIA's RTX 3080, though it's difficult to get exact comparisons until the cards are both available. During the tease, Borderlands 3 ran at "Badass Quality" (bad meaning good in this case) and hit 61 FPS at 4K. If these figures hold up in real-world usage, AMD's Big Navi should appear in our best graphics card roundup soon.
