DOOM Eternal gave our Senior Editor Jez Corden "goretastic catharsis" and earned a near-perfect score in our review as an excellent first-person shooter. Now, you can check out the title in 4K glory powered by the NVIDIA's newly announced GeForce RTX 3080. A new video by NVIDIA shows off around five minutes of gameplay powered by the monstrous new GPU.
The video showing off DOOM Eternal on the RTX 3080 has an FPS counter throughout the video. The game safely stays at around 120FPS during most intense action and spikes up to 160FPS at calmer points. Only the most taxing battles push the card to run at below 120FPS in the video, and those dips are quite brief. According to the video's description, the game is running in 4K with max settings.
NVIDIA revealed the RTX 3090 , 3080, and 3070 recently. They offer up to a two-times increase in performance over the Turing-based RTX 20 series. The RTX 3080 will be the first of the new cards to ship. It will be available starting on September 17 for $699.
While we haven't gotten our hands on the NVIDIA 3080, there's a good chance that it will be near the top of our list of the best graphics card options you can buy. NVIDIA's 20 series has four entries on that list, and the 30 series cards are more powerful and more efficient than their 20 series siblings.
