Get FreeSync Premium and 144Hz IPS for $230.

What you need to know

  • HP unveiled two new Omen gaming monitors aimed at afforability today.
  • Both 24-inch monitors feature FreeSync Premium and 144Hz IPS displays starting at $230.
  • The new HP Ome 24i and Omen 24ih are expected to go on sale starting October 4.

HP is making it a little more affordable to get in on gaming performance with its Omen monitors. The company today unveiled the new Omen 24i and Omen 24ih, each of which brings a similar set of specs for under $250. Importantly, they're fast, too, with 144Hz and a 1ms response time.

The Omen 24i and 24ih both sport a 1080p resolution, so it won't take a ton of horsepower to push that 144Hz refresh rate to its max. To keep things smooth, they also include FreeSync Premium, which synchronizes your AMD graphics card's output to the refresh rate on your monitor to kill screen tearing. The screen tech itself is IPS, ensuring you should get a combination of solid colors and wide viewing angles.

The only difference between the 24i and 24ih lies in their stands. The 24i only allows for tilt adjustment, allowing you to change the angle of the screen upward or downward. The 24ih, meanwhile, includes a height-adjustable stand and a dedicated cable management slot.

Other than that difference, you'll still get 350 nits of brightness on both models and each can be managed through HP's Omen Command Center software.

HP says that both monitors are expected to go on sale starting October 4 at HP and Best Buy. The Omen 24i is expected to launch at $230, while the Omen 24ih is set to be priced at $249.
