What you need to know
- NVIDIA is preparing to announce their next lineup of high-end graphics cards to set the bar for PC gaming.
- The pinnacle of this collection is supposedly the NVIDIA RTX 3090, which is shaping up to be a monster of a GPU.
- A new rumor reveals a staggering starting price point of $1,399 to $1,499, much higher than previous generations.
- The card could also feature 24GB of GDDR6X memory, a significant boost in amount and speed from the last flagship GPU.
The rumors revolving around NVIDIA's upcoming 30-series graphics cards, using the new Ampere architecture, are continuing to heat up as we head for the expected reveal on September 1, 2020. Just a few days ago we learned of a rumor that the NVIDIA RTX 3090, the apparent flagship in NVIDIA's new lineup, will feature GDDR6X memory, which boasts much improved speeds thanks to a higher bandwidth. Now, a new rumor is surfacing that tells us even more about this powerful PC component.
A report from wccftech may reveal long-awaited information regarding the pricing of the RTX 3090, as well as how much of this new GDDR6X memory the GPU could have, and both are much higher than originally expected. The RTX 3090 (which is expected to be the successor to the already expensive RTX 2080 Ti) could start at $1,399 in the US, with an extra $100 on top for the Founder's Edition, bringing the final price to a wallet-emptying $1,499. However, these prices could be justified if the RTX 3090 is as powerful as rumors suggest.
Utilizing a huge 24GB of new GDDR6X memory, the RTX 3090 will have over twice the amount of the RTX 2080 Ti, which came with only 11GB, and this upgrade memory will have higher speeds and better efficiency. Not only that, but the new cores the RTX 3090 will use may give players a 40-50% performance leap over the RTX 2080 Ti, one of the most powerful graphics cards you can stick in your PC, and a mainstay on our list of best graphics cards for your PC.
We'll have to wait for NVIDIA's official reveal to verify any of this information, so take these rumors with a hefty pinch of salt for now. In the meantime, are you excited for what could be the king of PC GPU's going forward? Are you impressed with the apparent features and performance the RTX 3090 will offer?
