What you need to know
- Microsoft Teams will gain a live transcription feature next month.
- The feature automatically saves transcriptions of meetings.
- The feature also attributes transcribed text to different speakers.
Microsoft Teams will gain a live transcription feature next month, according to the company's most recent update to its Microsoft 365 Roadmap (via OnMSFT). According to the roadmap, Microsoft will release the feature in September. Microsoft first announced the feature in July, but only recently specified the planned September release.
In addition to transcribing audio from calls, the feature will attribute comments to specific individuals on the call. This makes it much easier to follow along with a conversation. Following the conclusion of a meeting, the transcription is automatically saved into a tab for the meeting.
While the roadmap currently states that the feature will come out in September, roadmaps are always subject to change. The feature could arrive at a later date.
