It's completely bonkers!

What you need to know

  • Yakuza: Like a Dragon is an upcoming action game from Sega.
  • This is the first entry to hit Xbox at the same time as PlayStation.
  • The game should launch in November 2020, and will be available on Xbox Series X at the console's launch.
  • The PlayStation 5 version is coming "at a later date."

The Yakuza franchise is made up of many over-the-top action games that focus on revenge in most cases. The latest entry, Yakuza: Like a Dragon, should launch in Holiday 2020. Today, Sega sent us a press release detailing the launch window and select voice actors.

Yakuza: Like a Dragon is launching in November 2020 in the West. It's coming to Xbox One, Windows 10, PlayStation 4, and Steam then. However, the Xbox Series X version will release on day one on the console's release date, and the PlayStation 5 version will release at a later date. A PlayStation 5 upgrade path is also being planned for the Western release and will be announced at a later date. Preorders should go live soon, but they aren't available yet.

Also revealed in today's announcement was the English voice cast of Yakuza: Like a Dragon, which features, among many talented actors, Star Trek's George Takei. Takei plays the role of Masumi Arakawa, a powerful patriarch whose dissolution of the Tojo Clan sets into motion the conflict in the game.

Yakuza 0 and Yakuza Kiwami are available right now on Xbox Game Pass. Yakuza Kiwami 2 is joining the service on July 30. If you're new to the series, be sure to check it out if you're a subscriber. They're excellent games and if you love the action, expect even more thrills in Yakuza: Like a Dragon in November!
