Get ready to play it on consoles!
What you need to know
- Planet Coaster is a roller coaster-building game from Frontier Developments.
- It's coming to consoles in Holiday 2020.
- Today, the developer released a gameplay trailer that highlights the cartoon-like visuals.
- It's unclear what the game's visuals differences will be between Xbox One X and Xbox Series X at this time.
Recently, Frontier Developers — the team behind games like Elite: Dangerous — announced that Planet Coaster was coming to consoles. The title is a roller coaster-building experience that garnered great reviews on PC when it launched a couple of years ago. The Xbox One and Xbox Series X versions have a new control scheme and other improvements that should make it easier to play with a controller.
Today, the team gave us a peek into the visuals of the title on consoles. The graphics maintain its cartoon-like charm and seem like they feature great lighting as well. You can take a look at the trailer below. According to Frontier Developments, "releasing Holiday 2020 on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X, Planet Coaster: Console Edition offers even more players the chance to fall in love with building, managing, and sharing their dream coaster parks."
It'll be interesting to see how what the control scheme is on consoles since the title requires some precision. We'll also keep you posted as soon as we know what the performance target is on Xbox One X compared to Xbox Series X. Given past Frontier Development experiences, it may be 30 frames per second (FPS) on Xbox One X and 60 FPS on Xbox Series X. However, only time will tell.
Microsoft is holding an Xbox Series X gameplay reveal event on July 23 that should provide more answers about the technical capabilities of the machine when it comes to actual graphics.
