While Halo Infinite campaign gameplay was shown earlier today, there's If you've been one of the players who were worried that the Banished being involved in Halo Infinite would be off-putting for anyone who hasn't played Halo Wars 2, you can rest easy.
According to a new interview on IGN, while the Banished have been brought in "Because they're super cool and everyone likes them," you won't have to play Halo Wars 2 to understand their context within the story. Context from media outside the games was somewhat necessary for understanding Halo 4 and Halo 5: Guardians, a problem 343 Industries acknowledged and is trying to avoid here.
The interview also revealed that the new villain in Halo Infinite is a Banished War Chief named Escharum. He leads the Banished on this particular damaged Halo ring and he's an old, tired warrior.
Halo Infinite is coming to Xbox One, PC and Xbox Series X.
