V-MODA's first foray into the professional studio market is a phenomenal one.

V-MODA has been making quality headphones for a variety of audiences for years now. Still, one area of the market it was notably absent in was the professional studio sector. However, that has changed with the arrival of V-MODA's M-200 headphones, which are designed with the needs of audiophiles and professional artists in mind. After extensively testing them, I can confirm that V-MODA's first attempt at a pair of studio headphones is a stellar one.

What you'll love about the M-200 headphones

A closer look at the inside of the earcups, as well as the exterior shield cover.

The best thing about the M-200s is how they sound. Unlike many headphones that "color" audio with distortion effects or filtering, the M-200s sound clean and flat. Additionally, the wide frequency range allows you to hear everything from the deepest lows to the highest highs, and the 50mm drivers ensure that sound is delivered clearly. These features are crucial for producers and audiophiles, as they enable them to hear even the smallest details. This is incredibly helpful when trying to tweak your audio in a specific way or appreciating the nuance of a track. While the lack of enhancement effects or sound-altering filters may disappoint some, it's important to keep in mind that these are studio headphones meant for a professional environment. Accuracy matters more than anything else in this context.

The M-200s are also extremely comfortable to wear. Comfort matters a lot for any headphones, but it's espeically important for studio ones because people will be wearing them for hours and hours at a time. Thankfully, the large earcups, thick cushions, and lightweight of the M-200s ensure that you'll be able to wear them for as long as you need to without feeling any discomfort at all.

Lastly, the headphones are very durable and flexible as well, which is an area that V-MODA has always excelled in. The powerful combination of metal and leather makes the M-200s quite tanky, and each half of the headphones can be safely twisted and stretched to a degree that many would consider alarming with other headphones. Additionally, you can fold the headphones up and plop them in their travel case that comes in the box, allowing you to take them with you wherever you go.

What you'll love less about the M-200 headphones

The only real issue I have with the M-200s is the fact that out of the box, their clamping force is a little hard. Depending on the size of your head and your personal preference, you may like this, but it was a little too forceful for me. However, this isn't really that much of an issue since the clamping force will ease up shortly after you start using the headphones.

Should you buy the M-200 headphones?

While the lack of audio coloration is sure to disappoint some users, the clear, clean, and strong sound deliverance of the M-200s makes them a stellar pair of headphones for audiophiles and professional producers. They're super comfortable, too, and their extreme durability and flexibility just sweeten the deal.

5 out of 5

If you're looking for a pair of headphones that you can use to tweak your music to perfection or appreciate the finer details in sound, look no further than the V-MODA M-200s.
