If you work in a call center or other office-based occupation that requires you to make a lot of phone calls, you know how vital a quality office headset can be. And because a large portion of us are now working from home thanks to the coronavirus, it's more important than ever to have something at home. Here's what you should be considering.
For Skype
Microsoft LifeChat LX-3000
Microsoft has the LifeChat LX-3000 optimized for use with Skype for Business, so you know your Skype calls are going to sound great. The ergonomically-designed earpieces are meant to relieve pressure, allowing you to wear the headset all day without feeling sore or fatigued. This headset is excellent for anyone who uses Skype as the primary form of communication in both their professional or personal lives.
Lightweight
Sennheiser PC 7
This headset from Sennheiser features mono sound (the PC 8 is the stereo version) in a super lightweight body that's comfortable to wear all day long. It doesn't look like much, but Sennheiser promises you'll not even notice you're wearing it, which is ideal for those long hours in the office. Besides stereo sound from the headset to make sure your calls are perfectly crisp, the microphone has noise cancellation built-in so the folks at the other end won't hear your noisy office environment.
In-line controls
Plantronics Blackwire C5220
The Plantronics Blackwire C5220 is very lightweight, making it easy to wear all day, and has a noise-reducing microphone. Another highlight of this headset is the built-in cable controls that allow you to control volume output and microphone mute.
Great sound
Jabra Evolve 40
Jabra's Evolve 40 is a workhorse specifically designed to make you sound great. Working with all major UC systems, it has a fantastic noise-canceling microphone that will eliminate interference, and Peakstop technology prevents sudden loud noises from blasting you in your ears. It's not the most robust option on our list, but you'll sound exquisite on the other end.

Getting online at home
It's difficult to choose a wrong headset for the office. All of our recommendations are worth considering for use throughout the day, but if I had to recommend a single choice, it would be the Plantronics Blackwire C5220 for comfort. It's also incredibly easy to use and makes you sound incredible to others on the work call.
You don't need to spend too much on a headset, though. The Microsoft LifeChat LX-3000 is ideal if you infrequently work from home and just need something to allow you to communicate with colleagues. It's also from Microsoft, so you know it'll support of of its service offerings.
