Lenovo's first Yoga convertible stacks up well against the Surface line, but you won't be able to get it in the United States.

What you need to know

  • Lenovo announced the Yoga Duet 7i and IdeaPad Duet 3i.
  • The Yoga Duet 7i launches in June starting at €1,199 (approximately $1,321)
  • The IdeaPad Duet 3i should be available in July starting at €429 (approximately $473).
  • The devices will be available in Europe and China but not the United States.

Lenovo announced two new convertible 2-in-1s this week, the Yoga Duet 7i and the Idea Pad Duet 3. Both devices feature detachable backlit Bluetooth keyboards and kickstands to keep displays upright with or without a keyboard attached. The Yoga Duet 7i launches in June starting at €1,199 (approximately $1,321) and the IdeaPad Duet 3i should be available in July starting at €429 (approximately $473). That price includes the detachable Bluetooth keyboard for both devices, which is a nice differentiator between devices like Microsoft's Surface Pro convertibles.

The Duet 7i seems to stack up well against Microsoft's Surface Pro 7, which it will be compared to due to its similar form factor and specifications. The Yoga Duet 7i has a 13-inch IPS 2K touchscreen. IT hits 450 nits of brightness and features 100 percent sRGB. It's available in either Slate Grey or Orchid. On the inside, it runs on up to a 10th Gen Intel Core i7 processor. It also has an option for 4G LTE to keep your device connected on the go.

In select markets, the Yoga Duet 7i comes with an active digital pen. It also works with the optional rechargeable Lenovo E-Color Pen, which has a smart sensor to detect the color of real-world objects. You can then take the captured color into creative apps such as Adobe Photoshop.

The IdeaPad Duet 3i is a more budget-friendly option. It has a 10.3-inch Full HD IPS display that makes it more portable and compact. It only weights 1.89 lbs (0.86 kg), making it more comfortable to carry in a bag. It's more geared toward light work on the go as it runs on Intel Pentium processors.

The Yoga Duet 7i and the IdeaPad Duet 3i compete with the Surface Pro 7 and Surface Go 2, respectively, in both form factor and specs. Lenovo's offerings have the added bonus of including the detachable Bluetooth keyboards and active pens in the price.
