What you need to know

  • Minecraft Dungeons is a co-op dungeon looter game from the creators of Minecraft, Mojang Studios.
  • The game is planning to add a host of new content in the future, including at least two DLC packs.
  • Numerous details about the DLC packs have leaked in the last few days, with new information available now.
  • The anonymous tips details the maps for the Minecraft Dungeons DLC, allowing us to speculate more about their content.

Mere hours after we learned about potential release dates for Minecraft Dungeons' upcoming DLC, we've recieved anonymous tips regarding the maps for Creeping Winter and Jungle Awakens. Apparently the information about the maps were found datamining the beta client for the game, reaffirming that these are likely the DLC's planned for release with the Hero Edition.

The maps might tell us about the areas being added in the DLC packs, including design elements and even how many levels we might recieve. With the Creeping Winter map, we can see a consistent theme with a hilly landscape covered with ice and snow.

A village rests nestled in a cove along the shore, with a road leading to a large castle up above, and a second village or set of buildings perched on the icy cliffside up above. This hints at two or more possible levels with Creeping Winter, or one sprawling level that moves between multiple areas of the map.

The Jungle Awakens map is arguably more interesting in this context, with more diverse colors and designs throughout. We can see three distinct areas on the map, moving from a dark and gloomy temple that appears to lead underground, a second temple in the main part of the map that vaguely resembles a dog or some other animal, and then a third temple, apparently in ruines, at the top of a hill. This hints at possible three separate levels, or again one sprawling level that traverses multiple different areas.

Until the DLC releases, we can't say for certain. As with all these leaks, take this information with a grain of salt, as all of this is liable to change in the months leading up to release. However, as more leaks surface about the Creeping Winter and Jungle Awakens DLC packs, it becomes increasingly likely that these are accurate, and that we can expect to see these before the end of the year. We'll keep you posted as we learn more information.

Minecraft grows up and and reaches out.

Minecraft Dungeons is the next saga in Minecraft's story, and it looks like Mojang and Microsoft are hitting another one out of the park. Minecraft Dungeons combines the familiar world we all grew up on with an injection of Diablo, a whole lot of fun. Available on every platform you're on, for a ridiculously tempting price, what's not to love?
